U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Hamas, demanding the group accept a 20-point Gaza peace plan by Sunday evening or face what he described as “all hell” unlike anything seen before.

The warning, posted Friday on Trump’s Truth Social platform, sets a firm deadline of 6:00 p.m. Washington time (22:00 GMT) for Hamas to agree to the terms, which aim to end the nearly two-year-long Israel-Hamas war and secure the release of hostages held in Gaza.

“If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas,” Trump wrote. “There WILL be peace in the Middle East one way or the other.”

Inside Trump’s 20-Point Gaza Peace Plan

The Trump Gaza peace plan — crafted alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — is the latest attempt to end the Gaza conflict that has killed tens of thousands. The proposal calls for:

  • An immediate ceasefire across Gaza

  • The release of 20 Israeli hostages believed to be alive, plus the remains of deceased captives, within 72 hours

  • The release of hundreds of Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons

  • Immediate humanitarian aid into Gaza once both sides agree

  • The creation of a temporary technocratic government to administer Gaza

  • Oversight by a new international body, the Board of Peace, chaired by Trump

  • Exclusion of Hamas from any future role in governing Gaza

The plan leaves the door open for a future Palestinian state, though Netanyahu later reaffirmed Israel’s opposition to that outcome.

Divisions Within Hamas Threaten Agreement

Negotiators say Hamas leadership remains divided. Its military wing in Gaza has reportedly rejected the deal, while political leaders in Qatar are said to be open to accepting it with adjustments. However, their influence is limited, as they lack control over hostages held on the ground.

One key obstacle: the demand that all hostages be released within 72 hours — a move Hamas fears would eliminate its leverage in future talks.

According to Israeli intelligence, 48 hostages remain in captivity, with 20 believed to be alive.

White House: Rejecting Deal Would Have “Grave Consequences”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reinforced Trump’s ultimatum on Friday, warning that a Hamas rejection would trigger a severe response.

“Hamas has a clear choice: accept this peace plan and begin a new chapter, or face devastating consequences,” Leavitt said. “The entire world should hear the President’s message loud and clear.”

Trump has vowed that if Hamas refuses the deal, Israel will have full U.S. backing to “finish the job” and eliminate the group militarily.

Fighting Intensifies as Deadline Looms

The ultimatum comes as Israeli forces tighten their siege on Gaza City, escalating airstrikes and ground operations. According to Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry, at least 66,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began in October 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise attack that killed 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped 251 hostages.

In the last 24 hours, 63 additional deaths were reported amid ongoing strikes on civilian shelters, including UN schools where displaced families sought refuge.

UNICEF spokesman James Elder condemned the situation:

“The idea of a safe zone is farcical. Bombs continue to fall with chilling predictability, destroying schools and shelters.”

Global Reaction: Cautious Optimism, Skepticism Remains

Leaders across Europe and the Middle East have welcomed Trump’s proposal as a potential breakthrough. The Palestinian Authority called it “sincere and determined,” while Pakistan initially supported it but later voiced concerns, saying the points differ from Muslim-majority nations’ peace frameworks.

Analysts say the plan’s success depends on Hamas’s response and Israel’s willingness to coordinate with international mediators.

What’s Next: Countdown to Sunday

With the Sunday deadline approaching, all eyes are on Hamas’s leadership. Acceptance could mark a historic ceasefire and open a path toward rebuilding Gaza. Rejection, however, may unleash a new phase of intense military operations, potentially reshaping the region’s security landscape.

Observers warn the coming days could determine whether peace or escalation defines the future of the Middle East.
